A Gift from the Community
Edith, a resident of a Kauaʻi nursing home, wanted to create something special for someone she may never meet.
With her permission, we captured this short video as she painted a beautiful 6 × 6 canvas that will become part of a future Brighten A Heart™ comfort-care tote. At Edith's request, we honored her privacy by filming only her artwork and hands as she created.
She hoped her video would inspire others to discover how a simple act of kindness can brighten someone's day.
Brighten A Heart™ is in the early stages of building relationships with nursing homes throughout Kauaʻi and exploring opportunities for residents to participate in creative activities that bring comfort, encouragement, and human connection to patients and families in our community.
Every canvas tells a story. Every brushstroke is a reminder that someone cares.

A Gift from the Community
A Kauaʻi artist recently surprised Brighten A Heart™ with an incredibly generous gift.
Inspired by our mission, she created and donated 100 original 6 × 6 canvases to be included in future Brighten A Heart™ Comfort Care Totes.
She asked to remain anonymous, choosing instead to let the kindness behind her artwork speak for itself.
Each canvas was created by hand and will eventually find its way to someone receiving a Brighten A Heart™ Comfort Care Tote, a small piece of original art from someone in their community who simply wanted to bring a little kindness into their day.
Her generosity reflects exactly what Brighten A Heart™ hopes to inspire within the communities we serve: people using their talents, time, and hearts to care for others.
We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary gift and the heart behind it.

Brighten A Heart™ is preparing several community initiatives across Kauaʻi and Honolulu.
Upcoming projects include community art activities, literacy-focused events, Comfort Care Tote distributions, and new collaborations with healthcare and community organizations.
As each project is completed, we will share the people, partnerships, and moments of kindness that made it possible here in our Hawaiʻi Community Highlights.
